TODAY'S LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE Nervous Blog #1
hey all,
i want to first start off by thanking everyone for all the positive feedback on The Nervous Wreckords Nailbighter EP. Its very hard to do something different musically/creatively from square 1, and having everyone's support has been tremendously encouraging, and flattering.
That said....addressing the question i have been asked the most...."Did I quit LOUIS XIV?"...the answer is not so simple. I did leave the band b4 the KILLERS tour we justdid through the UK/EU/OZ but, decided to stay on for the tour. I never say i won't do another LXIV record, i still love jason, Mark, Jimmy, Andy, and Shaun and am proud of everything the band i am a part of has achieved.
I did however feel like business started coming before music, and the pressure to compromise and over think the music was also increasing to me....
I want to dance, laugh, and most of all have fun making and playing music first and foremost, and for now....that is what i am doing.
We have a LXIV record half finished, and i would love for one day finish it and put it out when everyone involved in Louis has a second to ourselves.
That being said, I'll move on to today, which in all fairness happened because of you....
I finished the Nailbighter EP Monday in Cambridge, MA, you guys have been calling the radio station 94/9 in San Diego inquiring about the new band....THANK YOU.
That led to a phone message early this morning by Mike Halloran asking me to come into the radio station and be a part of their "music meeting" and to bring THE NAILBIGHTER EP. Basically, everyone at the station, plus 2 record labels (one indie, one REALLY MAJOR) go through 28 songs from known and new artists, to decide what will be added to the rotataion of the station.
Song after song, commentary after commentary, all involved would express their opinion on the songs, and fill out a survey rating the song on personal taste, as well as, how well it, they think, it would do on the radio.
The Nervous Wreckords were one of the bands.....anonymously!!!
....and in the end, "I Don't Feel Tardy" by The Nervous Wreckords was picked!!!!
The song was played for the first time on "Halloran's Daily Dog Dare", along with "Doin it to Do it", and the response was AMAZING!!! I am FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW and honored that such a cool station singled me out and gave me the shot, as well as, gave me the experience to be objective, listen to unreleased music, and see how songs are picked to be on the radio by people who actually listen to the songs....Not because of record label politics, or because of who the bands are....(You'd be surprised on some of the major acts that didn't stand a chance at this station).
The stations like 94/9 in SD are a dying art, but as an artist, its refreshing to see that they still exist.
SOOO, AGAIN~ A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO"S VISITED MY PAGE AND LEFT ME FEEDBACK...Its because of you that i was heard and experienced what i did today.
SO...ONE LAST FAVOR..PLEASE REQUEST "I DON"T FEEL TARDY" on 94/9 San Diego...my experience with this new project will also be your experience, so stay tuned and watch it unfold with me, as i will with you. I am truly YOUR Fan!!!!!
Sincerely,
